Point-based immigration system

The Australian immigration points system is a points-based system used by the Australian Government to select migrants for permanent residency in Australia. The system is designed to attract migrants who are most likely to be successful and contribute to the Australian economy. Applicants are awarded points for various criteria such as age, English language ability, work experience, and qualifications.

To apply for permanent residency in Australia, applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). This is an online form in which applicants provide information about themselves, such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. Once the EOI has been submitted, applicants are awarded points based on the criteria they have met. The points system is designed to allow the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to select applicants with the highest points score, and offer them an invitation to apply.

The points system is regularly reviewed, and the criteria for points may change over time. Generally speaking, applicants who are younger, have higher educational qualifications, and have more work experience will be awarded more points. Applicants who have a higher level of English language proficiency will also be awarded more points.

To be eligible for permanent residence in Australia, applicants must score a minimum of 65 points. It is important to note that meeting the minimum points requirement does not guarantee visa approval. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection will assess all applications on a case-by-case basis to ensure that the applicant is a suitable candidate for permanent residency.
